Falts for Sale

Farmhouse

July 2001

The client desired to transform a hen house and a hayloft into offices. We worked with a budget: the client set an amount and it was widely respected.
Tradition reigns sovereign, but solutions are in the forefront. The design is based on materials which give a strong tactile sensation, elements were used at their natural condition, doors made of non treated oak, the stairs and one side of the fireplace made of oxidized iron (stabilized rust) and the other side of the fireplace made of a unique slab of stone. The hall is characterized by an iron and glass loft, completed by a coconut mat in anthracite colour.
The only heating is the fireplace, located properly in the centre of the structure and equipped with canalizations at sight for the distribution of hot air. Its position does not guarantee only a correct distribution of warmth, but it makes the fireplace visible from every corner of the building, even from downstairs, thanks to the glassy floor. At night lights emphasize the “natural state” of materials. Part of lighted bodies realized in the plan.
